Villajoyosa, also called la Vila Joiosa, is one of the most beautiful towns in Alicante whose history dates back to the ancient roman city.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES
At the entrance to Villajoyosa, we find one of the most beautiful and quiet beaches on the entire coast, easily accessible by car and with plenty of parking.
It is a gravel beach that, being far from the urban centre, is not overcrowded and has a cosy beach bar.
Right next to the beach we can find the Torre de San Jose or Torre de Hércules, a funerary monument declared a site of cultural interest. it is a mausoleum that reached 5 meters in height, erected in honor of Lucio Terencio Mancino’s tomb, which was right next to it.
TASTE THE GASTRONOMIC VILA JOIOSA
La Vila Joiosa has a reputation for having a high gastronomic quality of fishing tradition, and for this reason the city council created the “La Vila Gastronómica” brand, around which various annual events are held in which the town shows off its curricular skills.
WALK THROUGH THE HANGING HOUSES AND OLD TOWN
The hanging houses are a badge of La Vila, they are located in the centre of the city and just below them we have a walk along the Amadorio river that takes us to the town coast, a very recommended walk through one of the prettiest areas of the town.
In addition to the hanging houses, we can also visit the church-fortress of our lady of the assumption, which is part of the buildings of the ancient roman allon, and it’s also the perfect excuse to take a tour of the old town of Villajoyosa and get to know its beautiful streets as well as its bars.
TAKE A TOUR OF THE PORT AND SEE THE FISHERMAN DISTRICT
The port of Villajoyosa is a beautiful place to walk and experience the fishing tradition that surrounds the towns of the Costa Blanca. The very best restaurants can also be found in the port.
Next to the port, we find the promenade that takes you along the beach to the centre of La Vila, where we will see the fishermen’s neighbourhood with the famous houses with coloured facades, a nice picture to take a walk and discover the charms of this town.
