Pilar de la Horadada

Pilar de la Horadada is a beautiful young city full of Spanish character located in the South of the Province of Alicante, and only one city (San Pedro del Pinatar) away from being part of the provence of Murcia.

The reason Pilar de la Horadada is a young city is because it used to belong to Orihuela Costa until only 1986, but this does not mean it does not have all the history and charm of a typical Spanish city. What it does mean is that it is a growing city with many new built villas and apartments.

The city is located about 3 km from the nearest beach and is surrounded by nature and farmland. Land inward we can find Pinar de Campoverde with its Rio Seco, amazing for long walks and trekking or, for the more adventurous amongst us, for mountain biking. Towards the sea we find many beaches, such as the ones you find in Torre de La Horadada and for the golf fans amongst us, we can find many luxurious golf courses in the area.

Pilar de la Horadada has a beautiful and modern city center that can easily be crossed from beginning to end by walking on the Calle Mayor. As you cross the city center you will find many charming little and local stores, boutiques, as well as bars, cafés and restaurants. The perfect way to spend your lazy Spanish afternoons.

As the growing young city that Pilar de la Horadada is, it prouds itself for having a state-of-the-art Sports Center, as well as an indoor Olimpic swimming pool with many activities.

Without a doubt Pilar de la Horadada is one of the best cities of Costa Blanca South to live all year round.

Torre de la Horadada is a district which is part on the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada and located on the coast. It is located at the southern end of the Province of Alicante.

Torre de la Horadada is a coastal town, which has experienced its development recently thanks to tourism. It owes its name to two factors: the first, the watchtower of the 16th century; and the second, the place where said tower is located: the Punta de la Horadada (the part of the name “horadada” is due to the fact that this overhang of land to the sea has small caves made by water, that is, it is pierced, which is the Spanish meaning of the word ¨horadado¨). Torre de la Horadada consists of several beaches that have a blue flag which include:

  • Playa Jesuitas
  • Playa del Conde
  • Playa del Puerto
  • Playa las Villas
  • Playa las Higuericas

The promenade of Torre de la Horadada is a perfect place to go for a walk before of after enjoying a typical Spanish meal in any of the many restaurants and bars and have an ice cream at any of the ice cream stalls you will find there.

One of the most famous restaurants of Torre de la Horadada, called ¨Don Manuel¨, can be found on the square next to the promenade. The friendly and experience waiters will offer you a wide range of typical Spanish dishes and tapas for your enjoyment.

If afterwards you want to continue having something refreshing to drink, do not hesitate to take a short walk towards the small shopping center in the middle of Torre de la Horadada, Called ¨La Plaza¨, where you can enjoy drinks, cocktails and Mojito´s on the high roof terrace of the ¨Chill out Atic¨.

Torre de la Horadada is buzzling and lively during the summer months, and peaceful, though never deserted, in the winter months, as many of the habitants choose to return to Torre de la Horadada in the winter months after spending the summer with their families in their countries of origin.

Without a doubt Torre de la Horadada is one of the top choices for living all year round.
