Pilar de la Horadada is a beautiful young city with Spanish character, located in the south of the province of Alicante, and only one city (San Pedro del Pinatar) away from the province of Murcia.

Pilar de la Horadada belonged to Orihuela Costa until only 1986, and in that respect it is still a young city, but this does not mean that it does not have all the history and charm of a typical Spanish city. What it does mean is that it is a growing city with many new-build villas and apartments.

The city is approximately 3 km from the nearest beach and is surrounded by nature and farmland. Inland we find Pinar de Campoverde with its Rio Seco, great for long walks and hikes, or for the more adventurous among us, for mountain biking. Towards the sea we find many beaches, such as those in Torre de La Horadada and for the golfers among us, we can find many luxury golf courses in the area.

Pilar de la Horadada has a beautiful and modern city center that can be easily crossed from beginning to end by walking through the Calle Mayor. As you walk through the city center, you will find many charming small and local shops, boutiques, as well as bars, cafés and restaurants. The perfect way to spend your relaxed Spanish afternoons.

The city also has a new state-of-the-art sports center, as well as an indoor Olimpic swimming pool with many activities.

Pilar de la Horadada is very lively all year round, because many Spaniards live and work there. The area is beautiful because of the beautiful cultivated landscapes. Several very good restaurants are available here and are open all year round. One of the best restaurants is El Gallego on Calle Mayor, for the enjoyment of meat, fish and seafood lovers.

The city extends over more than 4 km where we find different environments. There are vast beaches with fine white sand in sharp contrast to the blue sea and small cliffs that hide small beautiful bays of golden sand. The beaches here are quiet and comfortable and are highly appreciated by families with children.

Pilar de la Horadada is without a doubt one of the best cities of Costa Blanca South to live all year round.

The best beaches

The beaches are equipped with many facilities and have good accessibility for the disabled.
